Research interest
We are investigating the underlying brain mechanisms of autism spectrum disorder in a rodent model, at the level of neuronal networks and individual neurons. In people with autism, it has been observed that in several brain areas the balance of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is disrupted, and we would like to explore this process in more detail. We are also conducting toxicological and pharmacological research, investigating the neurobehavioural effects of various environmental pollutants and bioactive plant compounds in in vitro systems.
